In September 2012, Strategyn had recently seen a significant decrease in its organic traffic. This loss in traffic was originally thought to be due to algorithm penalties, but it turned out to be a redesign issue. While researching topics and tactics for improving website performance, Strategyn came across an article from Evolve Digital Labs on another site. The article addressed duplicate content errors and the effects it can have on rankings and traffic. Shortly after, Strategyn contacted Evolve; the process began.
